Sean Royal is known as 1/2 of The Heavyweight Tag Team combination (along with his longtime friend and partner Danny Eckos). He teaches school during the day and wrestles by night. Talk about a diverse life. Although he is smaller than most ECWA athletes, he makes up for it in spirit and determination. He is quite the accomplished ring general and knows his way around the squared circle. In today's world of wrestling a lot of good wrestlers have trouble making their way from just being an excellent wrestler to a sports entertainer. Royal has a unique quality about him. He effectively blends the two and these qualities have made him an enjoyable character on the ECWA roster to watch. I recently had a chance to catch up with him to ask some questions. I hope you enjoy.

Weight? 285 lbs

Notable ECWA feuds? Mega

Favorite ECWA opponents? Wrestling Ace Darling was a highlight of mine, he has learned so much about the business, and every time in the ring with Mega is a pleasure and pure entertainment for the fans.

How long have you been in wrestling? 3 - 1/2 years

What made you want to get into wrestling? I have always enjoyed the athleticism and showmanship from Hulk Hogan when I was younger to Kurt Angle when I decided to pursue my dream.

When did you join the ECWA? My first ECWA match was November 5, 2005 - a three team match with The Heavyweights vs Mike Cruel & Arch Kincaid vs Chase Del Monte & Andrew Ryker

How did you joining the ECWA come about? My partner Dan Eckos and I were wrestling in Massachusetts (Chaotic Wrestling) and we had the pleasure to meet and talk with Jim Kettner. After several trips up there and talking to Jim we were given the opportunity to wrestle with the ECWA.

What do you like about the ECWA? ECWA has some of the greatest wrestlers and fans you can find. Every single person is professional and makes newer wrestlers feel welcome. There is also no greater feeling than being in the ring during the Super 8 show - the atmosphere is electric and cannot be duplicated anywhere else.

What do you think about the ECWA fans? The fans are so passionate and it makes you as a wrestler work even harder. Whether they are cheering or booing, they are always on their feet. I love meeting with them after the shows and showing them just how ripped the Heavyweights really are.

What have been your favorite ECWA moments? The excitement being in the Summit during the Super 8 was amazing. Watching the 8 participants battle in the tournament, meeting all the past winners, and then being in the same ring that night was incredible. I will also always remember wrestling Ace Darling who has learned more about this business than I could even imagine.

How did the Sean Royal character come about? The idea came from Jamie Jamitkowski who runs shows for Chaotic wrestling. He invited Dan and myself to come up for a show and told us the idea of coming out with a scale, posing, and weighing in at 600 lbs. From there Jim Kettner was very instrumental in developing the character along with Dan and myself.

What is the Sean Royal character all about? Sean Royal is 280 pounds of muscle. I am not afraid to tangle up with any opponent, any size. And I don't mind showing off the physique or doing some push-ups during the match.

Your thoughts on the current state of the wrestling business? Right now it's maybe too crowded; too many wrestlers and too many shows. Here in the ECWA, there is some good old fashioned wrestling focused on wrestling and character like it was when WWE was at its best.
